Do you ever want to do the right thing but then end up doing the wrong thing? Following Jesus is a life of wanting to do what God wants only to realize, "I can't believe I sinned again!" Why do we do that? I believe in Jesus as my Savior, why do I keep sinning? Martin Luther called this living life as a Sinner and Saint at the same time. Today we are taking a close look at what it's like living the Christian Life, and thank God, He forgives us because of Jesus. Look, it's harvest time. Where we live in Minnesota, it's impossible to not look at the fields and see its harvest time. My friend Brad says' it's his favorite time of year and his happy place is riding in the combine harvesting fields. I think Jesus likes harvest time too, but His harvest is so much more than corn and beans. Jesus is inviting us into the harvest. We live in our City and Pray for our City - Jeremiah 29:4-7, 10-14
God loves people, all the people, even the people who don't know He loves them. We don't always feel loved when we are going through hard times. We hear what God says to His people through the prophet Jeremiah when they are living through hard times. Turns out it's good news for us today too. When the city is having a hard time, pray. How do we love our city? What does it mean to be the church in our cities? Le Sueur, Henderson, New Prague and yes that includes farms and homes around our cities. But if we are gonna ask, how we love our city, maybe we should ask, "Do we LOVE our city?" Because I know one thing, God LOVES our city.
